What is contemporary classic accommodation? Well, I think it is a boutique B&B, hotel or holiday cottage with an interior that is effortlessly chic, quintessentially British and displays an individual style. I have included one or small hotels, such as Shoreditch Rooms, part of the Soho House group, but predominantly I want this list to showcase what I call New Wave British B&B. Forget out of touch star ratings, these destinations set high standards, not just in terms of catering but also in terms of style. Plus I have found just one or two self-catering houses which measure up in the same way. This list is going to be a moveable feast to which I will add and subtract at will as I find new contenders.
